How to unlock the iPhone using the anySIM program
Page 3 of 4
Step 7.
Launch Fugu. We are now going to install the anySIM program to the iPhone. In the "Connect to" box enter your iPhone's
IP address. In the "Username" box enter root. In the "Port" box enter 22 and then click "Connect". This may take 30 seconds
for the next screen to appear.
This message will appear, just click "Continue".
At this screen enter your password. If you haven't changed the iPhone's root password yet then enter "dottie".
Click "Authenticate".
This is what the file transfer interface looks like in Fugu. On the left side is your computer's file system, on the right is the
iPhone's file system. On the left side you should already be at your Home folder, so just double click the phonedmg folder.
On the right side window you should be at root, which is represented by a / so just double click the Applications folder.
You screen should match this one now.
Now click and drag the anySIM program in the left window, and drag it over to the right.
Make sure when you do this, that you
are not dragging into an already existing folder! You want anySIM to go into the Applications folder, not the Calculator.app folder
or any other folder. You'll know you are dragging it over correctly when a black border appears inside the entire right window.
This is what it will look like when you've done it correctly. anySIM really is a folder with files in it, not just a single file. Now double
click anySIM.app.
Right click the anySIM file in this folder and select "Get Info". I'm going to be overly paranoid here and make you set some
permissions on this file just to ensure it will execute properly. In the box that appears, enter 0755 into the "Octal Mode
Representation" box. Then click the "Apply" button. Then close the box.
You can now click the "Disconnect" button in Fugu and close the Fugu program.
Step 8.
Turn off the iPhone (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and slide to power off), and then turn it back on. You'll now see the
anySIM icon on the springboard. Launch anySIM and slide to unlock...
Read through the legal stuff and click the big red button at the bottom.
Several status messages and progress bars will fly by over the course of the next 15 minutes or so. The most prominent are
Dumping the NOR, Waiting for Erase Completion and Flashing the Baseband. If the stars are aligned properly then you will
get this screen. Click "OK" and you will be sent back to the springboard.
Note: You might get a failure message that says the flash succeeded but the unlocking failed. This is very common as there
is a bug in the program. Insert the SIM you want to use into the iPhone at this point. Confirm that you can make a phone call
and receive a phone call. If you can then it worked. I also find that the carrier name doesn't display initially until you've made a
phone call.
STOP! Don't get excited, you are not done yet! Remove the AT&T SIM and put the SIM you
want to use in the iPhone now.
