About me
Hi my name is Mark, and this is the fourth website I've created about cell phone modification. My
other sites:
Hack the L7,
Hack the V3 and
Hack the V3i are all about Motorola phones.
I've been using Apple computers since 1979. The first one I programmed with was an Apple ][ made by
Bell & Howell (the educational version which was black in color).
I was excited when Apple announced the iPhone. I just knew this phone would be susceptible to
modifying like my Motorolas before it. I couldn't wait to get started on creating a website for the
modding of this phone.
My content is free
It's the people who click my donate buttons and click other things on this site that keep it running
- along with my passion for the iPhone of course.
Legalities
This site is about the legal modification of the iPhone to add features and or programs to make it
more useful. This site will also show you how to unlock the iPhone for use on other GSM cell phone
providers' networks, other than your officially designated national carrier. The ability to unlock
a phone is protected in the United States under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
As of 2006 the U.S Copyright Office allowed this exception because in their words: "The underlying
activity sought to be performed by the owner of the handset is to allow the handset to do what it
was manufactured to do – lawfully connect to any carrier. This is a noninfringing activity by the
user...The purpose of the software lock appears to be limited to restricting the owner’s use of the
mobile handset to support a business model, rather than to protect access to a copyrighted work itself."
If interested you can download
this document from the U.S. Copyright Office,
and begin reading starting at Page 42, Paragraph 5. All information contained on my site is free.
How I do it all
Many write me thanking the "team" at this website. I want to let my readers know that this website
is actually run by one person. People ask me how I find out the things I find out when it comes to
modding the iPhone. I'm just someone who hangs out and listens and reads information as it's made
available in the various IRC channels and modding forums. I'm not a part of the official iPhone
development team. I receive no privileged information. I am not a programmer or an engineer. I'm
just a person that explains how to do the things the iPhone dev team comes up with as simply as I
can. It's my goal to bring these modifications to the typical iPhone user so that they have a chance
to modify their iPhone they way they want, and should be able to.
Thank yous
I want to give all the thanks in the world to the iPhone development team (past and present):

can keep up the amazing work!
Your help is needed
Some have asked how they can help. I could use translations of my tutorials to most any language.
Please check my main page and then navigate to the appropriate language to ensure a specific
tutorial hasn't already been created. Many like using my PayPal donate buttons to help pay for
the commercial webhosting of this site.
If you are a business owner in the Phoenix area, I am actively seeking employment.
