Recommended applications to install with Cydia

Note: Before you start installing everything under the Sun on your iPhone, you might want to read this article by "Big Boss" first: "iPhone Slower Than Before?" Remember that the iPhone has limited processing power, memory, and battery capacity. Some programs that "hook" SpringBoard", and other add-on programs (daemons) can be more harmful than others in this regard.

iPhone Categories - Have too many icons on your iPhone? Do you wish you could group them into folders so you can find things quicker? Now you can.

iPhone OpenSSH - Is the most critical program to hacking the iPhone. It allows for secure Wi-Fi access between the iPhone and your Mac. This allows for transferring of files to and from, and for installation and removal of programs. You will also need an SSH client on your Mac (unless you choose to use the Terminal). I have a detailed tutorial for how to install this program on both the iPhone and your Mac. When you install SSH, you should also change the well-known passwords for the root and mobile accounts. You can read this tutorial here.

iPhone PrivaCy - Let's you opt out of potentially invasive data mining services embedded into App Store applications.

iPhone Rename II - Allows you to rename App Store (must rename after an update) or jailbroken applications as they appear on your home screen. You must manually add the source into Cydia: http://cy.sosiphone.com/

iPhone SBSettings - Short for SpringBoard Settings. Quickly manage your 3G, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SSH connections, Airplane mode, and even adjust your screen brightness from just one control panel. It is even has themes. It also has a control panel for hiding the various program icons installed. There are also extras like enabling a numeric version of the battery, and automatic disabling of Apple's application kill switch. If you need to hide application icons (maybe from those nosy kids), check out the Poof feature.

iPhone Snapture - Is a full-featured camera application that allows you to use a self-timer, burst mode photography, image resizing, digital zoom, and various color modes.
