Jailbreak the iPhone on 7.1 through 7.1.1 firmware with Pangu

Who is this guide for?
- iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5C, and 5S.
- Works with firmware 7.1 through 7.1.1 (not Over The Air updates).

This tutorial will cover the Mac version of the Pangu program. Previously I covered the
Windows program running on a Mac in a virtual machine. If you'd like to read the tutorial
for the Windows version of this jailbreak where you must install a virtual machine and a
copy of Windows to run on your Mac then you can read that tutorial
Here's some things you should read before we begin. It's important you know about all
- If you updated your iPhone via Over The Air (OTA) methods, then you need to restore
via iTunes to 7.1.1 as the jailbreak can fail.
- If you aren't already on 7.1.x firmware then you must restore to this firmware before
- Backup your iPhone. You can use either iTunes (recommended) or iCloud.
- Disable any passcode you have set. Launch Settings, go to General > Passcode Lock.
Go to Pangu.io and download the jailbreak program. Double click the file that was
downloaded. You should now have these two icons on your desktop.
A pop up window will also appear. Next drag the icon out of the window.
Connect your iPhone to your Mac. Launch Pangu. Click the Jailbreak button.
As soon as the jailbreak process begins a series of images will display. You're
instructed to set the date on your iPhone to June 2, 2014.
Launch Settings, press General, press Date & Time, turn off 24-Hour Time and Set
Automatically. You can then press the date below in blue to adjust the date. Set the
date to June 2, 2014. Ignore the time.
The jailbreak process will begin. Many messages will appear in the Pangu app while the
black status bar fills in: Injecting bundles, please wait... Checking inject result...
Processing jailbreak files...
The process will halt with the message: Please tap the 'Pangu' icon on your device to
Press the Pangu icon. Then press Continue at the pop up question.
More messages will appear: Processing, just wait a few minutes.
A message will appear on your iPhone telling you to not disconnect the iPhone or close
The message Rebooting device, do not disconnect your device appears. The iPhone
will reboot. More messages will appear: Reboot completed, unlock your device to continue
jailbreak .. Waiting for response, please make sure your device is not password protected.
The iPhone will boot up.
I received a Storage Almost Full message.
The final messages appears: Clean up .. Done!.
The iPhone will reboot again. A couple messages will appear on the iPhone ending with:
Ready to load system, enjoy. ^^
The iPhone will reboot again. You'll see the same screen as above again. The iPhone will
reboot again, and that message will appear a third time. The iPhone rebooted one more
time. Cydia will be on the home screen.
