Hack the iPhone

iPhone firmware 1.1.1 (deprecated tutorials)

These tutorials are being preserved for those readers who want to continute to use their iPhones with an older iPhone firmware. The hacking community has created many popular and powerful tools that only work with firmware 1.1.1 and lower. Not all tools have been updated to firmware 1.1.2, and naturally some readers remain skittish about upgrading until hacking methods and programs become well established on newer firmwares. The OS X version of iTunes used in these guides was 7.4.2 (7.4.1 will also work and 7.5 should also work). You are on your own as far as ANY other version being compatible.

If you are new to hacking the iPhone, I highly recommend you start out with "Start here" button. You will find most every tutorial on here has both a Macintosh OS X (intel / PPC) version, and a Windows (XP / Vista) version.

Keep in mind, I never had a chance to update many tutorials in the iPhone firmware 1.0.2 deprecated section to work on 1.1.1. I'm sure many of them will work. There are guides there on how to install the Nintendo Entertainment System simulator, etc. So don't forget about those guides since the 1.1.1 section is sparse. Apple insists on releasing a new firmware on a 30 day schedule, and it takes effeort to rewrite the amount of guides I have here at that pace. When new firmware comes out, I stop writing for the current firmware and look forward.

Happy hacking!
