After the iPhone has booted remove the T-Mobile SIM, then reinstall it. This is critical to get the Cellular Data Network menu button to appear. Launch Settings, press General, press Network, then press Cellular Data Network. The page will not have any entries in it.

Enter the following data:

Cellular data / APN: epc.tmobile.com

MMS / APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMS / MMSC: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc

Internet Tethering / APN: epc.tmobile.com

Press Network in the top left to back out of this menu. I immediately received some MMS messages that were queued on the T-Mobile server I'd sent from another phone, so the service was working instantly. If you wanted to you could reboot the phone just to make sure the settings are loaded.

I can send and receive texts. I can send images (and verify they are received), I can not receive images (other than sending them to myself). The message I receive (instead of the picture) is: The media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction. Apparently the great majority of iPhone users using T-Mobile have this problem.

I have read numerous threads, tried numerous fixes, including downloads from Cydia repos with supposed fixes, and tried a plethora of settings in the Cellular Data Network page. Nothing works. I spent HOURS trying every fix out there. If I find a working solution I'll post it.

Here are the official T-Mobile setup instructions for MMS on an iPhone. They don't work either. They also recommend the use of internet2.voicestream.com or wap.voicestream.com as an APN if epc.tmobile.com doesn't work.

Step 4. FaceTime

The program you need is called MiTime, and is for sale through a third party for $7.99. I purchased this program on my own (twice for both my T-Mobile powered iPhone 4s), and can verify that it does work. You can read about this program at the developer's site here. Make sure to check out the installation instructions page for more info.

The first thing you need to do is ensure your iPhone with the unsupported SIM installed can receive an international text message. Go to this site, enter the international version of your U.S. phone number (i.e. +1 (123) 456-7890), choose where you want the message sent from, enter the security code and click the Send SMS button.

You'll should receive a text message. If you don't you can attempt to continue with this process and it may still work (it did with my Simple Mobile SIM). Launch Cydia, press Manage, press Sources, press Edit, press Add, enter cydia.pushfix.info and press Add source. The source's information will be downloaded. Press the return to Cydia button and you'll see Pushfix.info in the Entered by User section. Press the Done button. Press Pushfix.info to browse the contents of this repository.

I selected OK at the prompt for push notifications. In my situation I received a message about the FT SMS being too old. The program requested me to turn FaceTime off and then back on. I've erased my phone number from these screens. Yours should be here.

Press home. Launch Settings. Press Phone. Turn FaceTime off. Turn it back on.

I launched the program again and received the message that my iPhone was compatible. A purchase code was displayed.

Go to the purchase page for this program here. Enter your code in the box and click the Verify & Purchase button. After entering your code you'll be required to use PayPal and pay $7.99.

Press home on the iPhone and relaunch MiTime. It will collect information and then you should receive the message that the FaceTime token is being installed.

The token was installed successfuly. Then the iPhone will respring. Launch MiTime again to verify that FaceTime is activated.

Make a FaceTime call! Here's my T-Mobile iPhone 4 calling my Simple Mobile iPhone 4.

Notes after installation. This is from the developer's website. If you turn off FaceTime, or it gets turned off somehow, don't turn it on in by launching Settings and going to the Phone menu. Launch the MiTime program and it will fix FaceTime and turn it back on. If you ever see a warning message about your carrier charging you for video calls again, press Cancel and launch MiTime to determine what is happening.
